Unofficially Yours

“Sa bawat ISA kasing pinili mo, may ISANG LIBONG bagay kang tinatanggihan. Paano kung pinatunayan sayo ng ISANG pinili mo na higit pa siya sa ISANG LIBONG tinanggihan mo?” -Mackie Galvez (John Lloyd Cruz)

THE MOVIE
I rarely watch Filipino film but when I saw the teaser/trailer of this, it captured my attention. Initial impression was, this movie surely imitates the English movies "Friends with Benefits" and "No Strings Attached" which I viewed both before. Curiosity struck that I just saw myself sitting next to my bestfriends and watching it on the big screen.

I don't wanna sound like a MassComm practitioner and do a movie critique here. Lemme just specify my observation. The leading characters (John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin). Honestly, I began to appreciate the two actors through this film. They used to be so-who-cares actors in my eyes. Until I saw their lifelike performance. I started to admire Angel, especially her glass-hour-like figure, and have an eye for John Lloyd. OMG! His humor and killer smile make him look so HOT! I just died! :)))

Its story is way better than the two English movies I mentioned. Watch the 3 to know what I talk about.

FRIENDS W/ BENEFITS RELATIONSHIP
In this century, "friends with benefits" is described as two friends having a sexual relationship with no emotion involved. I have nothing against men and women who are into this kind of set up. I ain't being hypocrite here. It's just that I cannot imagine myself being in the picture. I don't wanna wake up in the morning and see myself disrespected by people around me, particularly men. Well, I'm just imagining the worst consequence.

As to those people who are in this kind of scenario... You are experiencing fun right now but never forget to imagine the worst scenario. You may find yourself falling in love. Fortunate you are when he/she feels the same way and end up together like Mackie and Cess of "Unofficially Yours". But always remember that feeling might change and feeling might get hurt.

DO RELATIONSHIPS NEED AN OFFICIAL STATUS?
Definitely. Official status is not just a label. It is beyond that. It is knowing your do's and dont's. This is to be aware of your duties and limitations.

One may assume that they are lovers whereas the other party finds it casual and fun. You assume you are THE BOYFRIEND of hers but she then introduced you to her friends as A BOY-FRIEND only. Feeling mo MAGKA-IBIGAN kayo tapos pinakilala ka at sinabing MAGKAIBIGAN lang kayo. How painful could it be?

Unless... you got a mutual understanding. I mean, no words needed. Be it official or unofficial, if your minds understand each other and hearts beat for each other, it doesn't require label then. You may not put your feelings into words but you can always show it.
