Honestly, I am a Muslim and don't celebrate Christmas. But being surrounded with my mom's side who are Christian, I join them in celebrating this very special day, except doing the simbang gabi.
This year 2010, my Christmas was fine. I celebrated it with my relatives. Tummies were full because many delicious foods were served, sang through videoke machine all day while dancing, and gave aguinaldo/gifts to our respective godchildren.
What I really waited for this day were my little cousins, nephews, and nieces wearing their cutest clothes. And I was right! All of them were so twee and I could say the color of the day was PINK. See the proof?! :-D
When evening came, some of my cousins and I opted to hangout. So we went to Marquee Mall then proceeded to Ka Boom Ka Boom, a theme park.
That's how I ended Christmas day. Wonderin' why I didn't spend my Christmas with my family? My family is in Saudi Arabia, working for a living and I went to the Philippines to take college, just like any other Filipino children in abroad do after secondary education. That is why it became a COLD CHRISTMAS for me. I couldn't celebrate it with my family. I am 7771 kilometers away from them. I wasn't able to go there because I'm very busy in school, but I do come back there every semestral break. However my parents phoned and greeted me that day. We talked over skype as well. OMG! I just missed them so much. And before I closed my eyes to sleep, I just imagined what would my little sister and 2 tubby nephews look like in their Christmas getups. CUTE indeed! :-)
This is how my family spent holiday in Saudi Arabia...
Mama, Ate, Buknoy, Irah |
my 2 nephews (bubot and buknoy) |
Ate and her husband (Kuya Sai |
Papa |
I am now a junior college student. After a year, I'll be spending Christmas again with my oh-so-loving family. :-) Nevertheless, still happy coz I got my relatives who can be with me during moment like this.
Always remember, distance is not a hitch for a strong family, especially in special days.
